We have some machines in work running W7 x86. Would it be possible to have more than 3gb installed, with the excess allocated to the XP VM?

For instance, a machine with 6gb installed would have 3gb allocated to W7, and 3gb allocated to XP?

I'm not sure this is possible is it?

Cheers

nope. the virtualisation software is still just a normal program and it can only use what memory windows has available.

can't you just install x64 on the machines? the licenses you have would still be valid if you grab yourself the 64bit media.

Thought so, someone said otherwise but I wasn't confident enough to tell them they're wrong :p

x64 is on the horizon, but it takes ages to get new builds rolled out to the company (large organisation, small IT staff...)
