Hi all

Im running windows 7 64 bit and i have noticed that my memory free is below 500mb i currently have these installed: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

Apart from the windows procceses that are running i have CCC.exe, DisplayFusion.exe, Sidebar.exe and TuneUpUtilitiesApp64.exe running all together, they are using about 80mb with sidebar using most about 60mb.

So why is windows only showing less than 500mb free what is actually using all the RAM?

It's meant too, don't worry about it - 7 makes actual use of your RAM compared to XP & Vista.

Windows has used RAM cache for a long long time, even Windows 2000 does it. It's only recently that they started to display it as 'using' RAM so people now notice it, but it has always been there.

You sure about that? 7 is a hell of a lot more responsive and learns programs I use commonly & seems to cache them and boots them up quicker much faster compared to XP or Vista.

I think my point was wheither 2000, XP or Vista had RAM Caching in place or not, 7 is making a lot more use of the RAM so this particular feature has been somewhat (quite massively) improved since the days of 2000.
