Hi i am new to this forum and found this interesting to exchange and share my ideas.

When you update to a new operating system a backup copy of old files will be automatically generated. in case you have a problem with the new one, you can revert back to previous OS.

Programs that are compatible will run without any problem, but for others you need to install new versions of the software's.;)

yes if there compatible they will run once installed
you cant run them straight from the folder "old windows" as there will be no entry in the new registry
