Windows 7 64bit and HDTV

Thinking of upgrading my vista 64bit to W7 64bit.

I use my PC as a media Centre and 64bit is not great for HD tv (impossible to get thru WMC). I am wondering if People have got HDTV thru Win7 64bit?

Also is it possible to "upgrade" to win7 so not to loose anything? Or is a reinstall the only option?
