as the title says i have ocz memory ddr3 1066 1333mhz 8gb installed on all slots on my mobo which is a gigbabye x58 udr3 board.

i have windows 7 installed on the rig at the moment but when i log in and go to system properties i get the following

memory: 8.00gb (6.00gb usable) is there anyway to justg make it 8.00gb full im not a expert and i tought 64bit allows you to use the full memory please advise thnaks.

Wow, that's wierd.

When it says 6gb Usable, does that mean that 2gb has already been gobbled up by the OS.

Press ctrl + alt + delete and look at your memory usage in there?

I would check in bios see how much memory is used as well.

Possibly check the cpu socket for bent/damaged pins, as this can cause this sort of problem.

Also could be a faulty memory stick? maybe swap out each stick to see if you can find out which one it is, that is IF it is a faulty stick.

Tyr going to start, type msconfig and press return. Click on Boot and advanced and tick the box for memory but do not specify an amount. Save and reboot and this may fix the issue.

well im using all the slots atm including the blue slot which i think its the triple channel if i dont use that slot then i cant get the full 8gb but then i once used only 3 sticks which came to 6gb but then when in windows its says the following.

6.00gb (4.00gb usable)

the thing is when i first only had 6gb it was fine it was not only untill i put the other slot in it starting doing that usable thing.

also sometimes it showed the full memory other times it didnt lol i had so much problems with this board ever again i iwll buy gigabyte

also if its only a triple channel board does that mean i can only have 3 sticks in the board only?

I've had issues like this and other niggles with Gigabyte boards in the past.

My first one had an awful RAID controller which would just ruin the array forcing me to do a complete re-install , my new one has terrible interance running through the USB ports.

The new 'A' revisions steal X8 from the PCI-E bus when using USB3/SATA6  so careful for those gamers out there trying to futureproof
