So I'm trying to setup a dual boot mainly down to the fact that there is 1 game that plain refuses to work with Windows 8.1, XCOM: Declassified, No idea why but it works with 7 and not 8.1 and yes both OS's are store bought.

Anyway is there anything special I have to do or can I just partition the drive and have 1 part for W7 and the other for 8.1 ?

Any info is appreciated :)

Partitioning sounds good. Generally it is recommended to install the older version of Windows first then add the new one on top so it rewrites the boot record and adds itself and the previous one to a boot menu.

However there are various ways of doing it the other way round.

As above, when Windows 8 first came out I shrunk the Windows 7 partition instead and used the extra space to dual boot with 8. Was pretty quick and easy to do, during boot you'll be greeted with a screen on which OS you'll like to boot to. You can also use msconfig to pick the default OS.
