Windows 7 Activation Question

I've installed Win 7 on a HDD but haven't activated it yet.
The reason being I ordered an SSD a couple of weeks ago and plan to do a final install on that.

I installed it to the HDD as a trial to highlight any software driver problems I might have.

It seems I may have to wait a couple more weeks at least before the SSD is back in stock ,and by then the 30 day activation deadline will have passed.

So can I activate Win 7 and then reactivate it again after setting up the SSD when it finally arrives? Or will this cause a problem and not be allowed by Microsoft?

You probably need to activate over the phone using the automatic phone system.

Another option is to clone the drive using Acronis, they do a 15 or 30 day trial, can't remember which.

You used to be able to get an extra 30 days out of the trial period by typing the following command at the cmd prompt:

Code:
> slmgr -rearm

Don't know if it works in Windows 7 but worth a try. Obviously wait until you have like 2 days remaining for full effect.
