just got given a new intel i3 pc running windows 7,
switched it on and it started setting itself up and when it eventually finished i clicked on explorer and expected it to ask for my WEP code as all my other PC's, consoles and mobile phones have done and it did not, just loaded up and ran.

i then went to set up Windows Live Mail and it asked for my name and email. then asked if i wanted to setup manually, i went with automatic and it installed my Sky settings (smtp/POP) with out me having to do it.

question/
where is it getting the info from if i'm not entering it?

more so, how is it accessing the net without my WEP code?

tia

Is it a 'make' of pc? And did you install windows manually, or was it just a case of asking for usernames? If the latter, it was already entered, and usually OEM pc's have a master key, and the one on the case is only required when re-installing from scratch (Sometimes never) from their media.
The settings are stored for the major ones at the automatic setup part, as 99% of the major providers only have 1 setting. My phone does the same.

connected to router via cable, the pc is a Medion with 4 gig mem and windows 7 32bit.
on 1st use it asked for my name and a name for the pc. i did not have to enter a windows key.
