Hey Guys

I Have got windows 7 ultimate beta

I have a ATI X500

I went into resolution settings and it shows 1024x768 (recommended) which it is on. I have the PC connected by DVI to my cinema projector which has a native 1280x720p resolution. I cannot choose this resolution. It does not show it as an option, then I went into the advance tab and chose list all modes and then saw all the resolutions the gpu can do and 1280x720 was not on there. It strange because I am sure I have got 1280x720 before using this gpu, is there anyway to fix this problem or is it a problem with windows 7 beta?

How can I find officialy if the gpu supports 1280x720p is there a website to check? I cannot find the card on ATI site

Many thanks in advance

Does windows actually detect the correct projector or does it just list it as generic display in device manager?

If your using the latest drivers for the video card then it's prob the driver for the display adaptor (projector) that is causing the issue.

This would be my guess as well.

Are you sure the projector is 1280x720, because most I have seen are 1366x768 that just scale 1280x720 to fit. It is more likely the drivers have 1366x768 as an option.

What projector is it?

There are 1280x720 projectors, in fact they're more common than 1366x768 in my experience!

It's probably drivers for either graphics card, or monitor(projector) which is not telling the display drivers that it supports that resolution.

Many thanks for the replies guys

My LCD projector has a native resolution of 1280x720p, it's max resolution is 1280x1024.

The gpu drivers show the model of my projector, so it's definitely in there but no option for 1280x720p. I have the latest catalyst driver. I don't think it's possible for me to change the driver of the projector that I believe you have to send the projector in for a service.

any other recommendations you can give me

Many thanks in advance

not sure about windows 7 - but on other versions you can use powerstrip to create a custom .inf file which will tell windows which resolution to use.. the you set the monitor (projector) to use this file as its driver.
