windows 7 + audacity

Audacity plays nicely with XP but can be a bit temperamental with Win 7. Look at this regarding getting it to work (Vista tutorial but applicable to win 7)

Pay attention to the part about selecting/enabling recording devices as what you need to use (stereo mix?) is probably disabled by default in 7. Back in Audacity you'll need to click edit /preferences to set recording device as the dropdown menu on the main window will be grayed out with Win7 o/s.
For me sometimes it's fine then randomly another time i'll get 'audacity exe has stopped working' message when I stop recording and audacity will just close losing what I've been recording.
