I have Windows 7 (on a Crucial M4 SSD) backed up on an external SATA drive and was wondering if my Windows drive failed and I had to get a new SSD, would the new SSD accomodate the backup saved on the external SATA drive?
Basically I want to be able to stick the new SSD in, run Windows recovery and use the backup on my external SATA drive.
Or can you only backup onto a drive that already has the original Windows files?
