Windows 7 backward compatibility

Hi ya guy I’m thinking of windows 7 home premium retail, what i was wanting to know if i could use the key to install windows xp home

thats a rather odd question indeed, what made you think MS would do that? - the closest you are going to get with taht is by using virtual PC and using a MS image of XP that you can do with the pro / ulti versions of win7.

wanting it for media portal and a far few emulator so i thought the compatibly would be better

so when everything work perfect on 7, i can upgrade to it without paying again

I'm afraid if you want that luxury you will have to pay twice as people have said. XP-mode (not a feature of Home) might be an option but I wouldn't bank on it.
