Hi,

My wife has an odd issue with Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit). She had two word docs open (side by side on the screen I think) and when she switches from one to the other there'd be a slight delay - the blue circular busy icon would appear for a second or so before letting her access the other word doc. This is kinda strange as she's never had any such issues when Win XP was on the same PC.

Surely something as simple as switching between two word docs (both already open) should be instant

Any help would be great.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the two word docs in question are both on different drives.

Specs (from what I remember):

- AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core processor 3800+ 2.01 GHZ
- 2GB RAM PC3200 DDR 400 (I think)
- GeForce 7800 GT
- Abit AN8 Ultra Mobo
- Hitachi Deskstar 500GB
- Samsung Spinpoint 1TB
- Hitachi Deskstar 250GB

2Gb RAM is a tad low but shouldn't be getting any noticeable slow down just from switching. What version of Office are you using? Perhaps give Openoffice a try?

Office 2007 is a hog on some systems, honestly I'd move to an older version with the Office 2007 compatibility addon installed, change to openoffice or reinstall (on the off chance it helps).

We don't use it at work yet as a lot of our PCs are still on 1Gb of RAM, that's the public sector for you though.

Win 7 + Office 2k7 on only 2GB ram will likely run like a dog - upgrade to 4GB and reap the benefits.

Thanks. I was using Open Office at a place I worked at and I hated it - it was painfully slow.

I want to get her 4GB of ram, it's just a matter of finding some PC3200 DDR 2. That and possibly using an older version of Office.
