Windows 7 beta - 9th January

Just got 7057 x64, good so far.

Only thing is, I like my taskbar always there. I don't like when it auto-hides itself. But when I fill screen an Browser window its still there. Is there a way to make the browser go OVER the taskbar? Thanks

Am thinking of installing this build today, i am currently on xp pro but fancy a change. Does win7 have raid drivers like vista does or do i have to install them during the install from floppy/flash drive?

basically if vista has the driver for it, then 7 deffo will

Might just be me but ver 7000 felt quicker , more responsive than 7057

But anyway i upgraded my installation and this is what i had to do for myself

- I had to uninstall my xfi sound drivers as it wouldn't update with them installed ( reinstalled after update )

- Need to reinstall my graphics drivers aswell as it nuked my updated ones lol

- Security center had to be disabled again ( via system settings & admin tools services ) , i do weekly checks myself anyway

- Used pnputil -e to check for old windows 7 7000 version drivers and removed if 7057 are listed next to it

- Desktop.ini kept on loading up and showing as a notepad on desktop on every reboot fixed via link

- Windows Firewall and defender had to be disabled again in services , i use my own hardware/software

^^read that link

only shark has the 64bit matroska splitter.

if you uninstall klite, it will wreck your codec settings, because Win7 already contains a lot of native codecs.

only use a proper codec pack designed for Win7

LOL, why would I want to unsinstall K-lite? I've been using it constantly for about 4 years. :p

Anyway, it's working perfectly here, so i'm happy. :)

i've also been trying 7057 and i really can't see whats new or different from vista apart from few minor interface changes, redesigned layouts here and there. its also laggy and unstable when doing some tasks

I'm not being argumentative but what tasks have been "laggy and unstable" for you? It's been smooth sailing here now for a week.

btw guys, don't install codec packages on this, only use the ones from the Vista Codec Package author (he's made Win7 packs too)

all other codec packs wreck your install in terms of playback etc.

I've been using this player lately , which i really like it has inbuilt filters but you can turn them off and it has ffdshow style tweaks built in.

Installed the 7057 build without a hitch on my raid array, was impressed with how little time it took. Only problem i had was with my wifi card but a bit of searching soon got that working. Overall first impressions are very good managed to play some games and all seems fine :)
