Windows 7 beta - 9th January

you sure you're reading that right? I read that as they'll release the RC in April/May with the full release in July 2009????

Keep in mind 7057 is a leaked daily build that doesn't have anywhere near the stability and speed testing done on it that 7000 and the actual RC release will.

It's in effect a beta of a beta, once the build has the problems sorted it'll be released as the RC. I really wouldn't advise anyone to to use 7057 over 7000.

Any disadvantage with installing build 7000 at this point? I downloaded the beta from MS when it was still available but haven't used it yet. I know 7057 is just a leak but are there any huge changes that make it worth starting with that instead?

There is an issue with Windows 7 (built 7057) where the wireless adapter will fail to detect any networks, in fact even though the adapter is visible and working in device manager the WZC stack will fail to recognise a wireless device.

I believe this is to do with using non Windows 7 compatible drivers and can confirm this bug on 2 different systems both using different wireless adapters.

The bug occurs when the wireless connection has been connected for several hours.

Installing 7068 now to see if it is fixed in this new build!

HELP! :)
Ive installed windows 7 build 7068 on an slave drive so I have a dual boot with XP, BUT I have no option for a dual boot, it just loads into Windows 7. My XP installation is still there on 'D drive' but I cant boot from it!
Can anyone help as I cant really do anything with Windows 7? I want XP back :)

VistaBootPro should allow you to edit your boot options

change the boot order of your hard drives???

what can't you do exactly in Windows 7? Most stuff works fine.

I couldnt access the net. Windows 7 chucked my drivers disc back at me saying it wasnt compatible but I found a different and compatible disc.

I dont know what I did wrong but for a second (ok a few hours) I thought I'd lost everything.

Thanks all for your help ;)

never use driver cd's, download drivers from the manufacturer.

that's been the basic rule with drivers since windows 98
