hi all,

i have had the windows 7 will expire window pop up on my comp, (been away in egypt and only just got back)

after searching around on here i know i need to go from beta to rc to fix this but i dont have any storage to be able to back up my files. so if i do the update here http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/101865/upgrade-of-windows-7-beta-to-rc-and-rtm-to-require-some-mucking-about.html

will that keep all my files and programs etc intack? sorry if this is a silly question that has been answered befor please go easy on me.

thanks,

did you use some sort of external drive to put install folders? will anouther partition work ok?

thanks for the quick answer.

I burnt iso to dvd. copied dvd to hard drive. Changed file number to 7000 and clicked the autorun button.
The checker on the rc is set at 7077 so if you have that or newer you won't need to change the file.

apparently you can just extract the iso file with winrar or equivalent. But I haven't tried it. As I already had it burnt to dvd.

Ok cool, thanks.

My usual download place has versions in the 72xx, are these pirates of the retail release?

they are new releases, which are you aren't meant to be able to get hold of. some of the newer releases you can not activate. check the other w7 thread for more detail.
