Hi guys

I have a friend who has reinstalled Windows 7 on his PC.

He has done a fresh install on a new HDD, however he didn't wipe his old HDD prior to the new install. The old drive is to be used as a data storage drive. He didn't wipe that drive cos he wanted the program files info for his new install (steam etc)

He has installed the new windows 7 install on drive C:\
His old install was on drive D:\

When he boots the MBR is from D:\ if he sets the boot device to be drive C:\ then error occurs saying no boot record found etc etc etc etc

When he sets his boot drive to be D:\ the MBR asks which Windows 7 install to boot from with two Windows 7 options. Option 1 is the new fresh C:\ install and option 2 is the D:\ old install.

How can he copy the MBR data to the C:\ and remove the 2nd windows boot option so it auto boots the new fresh install?

Cheers!

If I boot from the Windows 7 DVD and load the command prompt can I run "bootsect /nt60 C:\" to make a MBR record on the drive?

My friend has no method to backup his drives and doesnt want to do a new fresh install.
