Windows 7 build 7077

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else..

On 7068, to get to a share that was on a different workgroup I had to run the \\IP
on 7077, the share shows up in 'Network', even though it's on a different workgroup.

Only a small change, but a very welcome one :)

Stuck x64 7077 yesterday over 7068 and find it much more stable. I feel I can use this almost as my primary OS. To be honest Windows 7 offers nothing to me over what Vista already has. In some cases I find Vista better, such as creating shortcuts on task bar. Try to create a short cut for Recycle bin or Computer or Games explorer. It just "pins" it to the explorer menu (which is rubbish, I want to see my drives, not those libraries.

This should be a service pack or theme for Vista.

You can change it back to how Vista works.

Now that my external DVD drive has decided to play ball, I'm up and running with 7077.

I haven't used 7 since the 7000 release, and I didn't exactly get much use out of that.

Looking forward to giving it a good looking over :)

I have found a way to resolve the problem with Xbox controllers. If you reinstall the driver but select those circa 2006, the problem seems to have gone. Yes, just plugged and unplugged it twice, no BSOD. It remains to be seen if I lose any of it functionality.

Thanks for the pointer about Recycle Bin. :)

Hmm, does not work quite as I would like. It does not show when it has items within and you can not right click and select "empty".
A further "hmm" as it actually has no functionality as a recycle bin. Items can not be dragged and dropped in to it, nor can you delete from it. It simply acts like a short cut to the contents of the bin.

Also, still no way of putting games menu on start bar, so I have popped Rocket Dock on, which kinda defeats the purpose I was trying to use it for.

How do you set to vista behaviour? I cant seem to find the option? Would this change the task bar style? I am rather fond of the look. I have been using a W7 theme in Vista for a while.

Are you using Steam on windows 7? Just contemplating using it as my primary OS.. got a reinstall due and pretty bored of XP now..

Yeah no problems with Steam here on build 7068 64bit.

As above, I have 7068 installed but I have been having some concerning hard lockups which I cannot diagnose. I wanted to upgrade to 7077 to see if that fixed it.

Is it possible to do an upgrade or would I need to do a fresh install?

Thanks

EDIT: I actually bothered to read the rest of the thread and see it is fairly straightforward to do :)

I upgraded from 7068 to 7077 last night with no problems. Seems the same to me :p

I am still getting my random freeze + sound loop when on the desktop though (somestimes browsing the net or in Photoshop with music playing)

Doing my head in now. Fairly sure it is a driver issue with my wireless card.

What app are all you dual booters using?

I can't get Vista boot pro to boot into my win 7 install but can boot into it from bios.

My set up is 2*64 Samsung ssd running X64 Vista with Win 7 on another bootable disc plus other discs for data etc.

I just installed W7 on to another partition on the same disk as Vista, set the boot manager up correctly itself.
