I was previously running build 7000 of Windows but the evaluation period ran out so I upgraded to build 7264 [days before the newer version was released].

I have my x1900xt hooked up to a Samsung PS42A456P LCD [DVI to VGA adapter, VGA cable to LCD].

Whilst I used to be able to hit 1920x1080 ala 1080p fine with Windows 7 7000, the most of I can get with the new build is 1360x768, otherwise my LCD says 'mode not supported' which is the error I'd expect to see if I was pushing it at a resolution higher than it can't cope with.

The latest Catalyst Driver 9.4 don't support the x1900 family of cards anymore, 9.3 seems to but I'm having difficulties persuading Windows 7 to install those rather than the drivers it ships with.

Unfortunately buying a new card is out of the question at the moment. Rolling back to the previous build of Windows 7 isn't an option and I don't see this being fixed in the newer version of 7 due to the lack of support from ATI for these cards. I can't go back to Vista as it was far to horrible and XP is just a no no - this worked with the 7000 build of Windows 7.

So my question is, have any of you found a way around this please using Windows 7 and an x1800/x1900/x1950 series card?
