Windows 7 checking the dvd drive every second

Hi all, this is just an annoying problem that makes my HDD light flash every second unless I disable the DVD drive.

Google has failed me for a resolution so I'm wondering if anyone's found a way around it?

anti-virus? try disabling it for a sec.
or it could be some malware/virus doing it as well.

Still happening with anti-virus disabled and a full scan with avast and malwarebytes turn up nothing.

The install is 7 days old on an Alienware M15x and it's been doing it ever since first boot.

-EDIT- looks like it's not a HDD access light but a drive access light in general, so it appears it's the dvd drive checking for a disc every second that's causing the blink.

You don't have AnyDVD installed do you?
