windows 7 compatibility

hi im considering purchasing win7 on release but was wondering if its compatible with most games and software that can run xp? i ask because i like playing old games like soldier of fortune and i also use a publishing program called serif.

It should work fine.

Serif will have updates anyway and SOF is kind of old now so maybe time to move on but it should just work.

thanks for the reply,i will go with win 7 and get more up to date with games lol.i suppose its best planning ahead and getting win 7 now because new games or software might not support xp.

Dual. And thats a waste of time when 7 will probably work fine with everything. Just add XP later if it doesn't.

my dad's labtec webcam doesn't work labtec say on their site they aren't offering any updates until after win 7 release.

I bought a logitec cam and tried to install using vista drivers from the disk. My PC crashed and I had to boot in safemode and use msconfig to remove services to get it to work again.

Win 7 is going to be a bit of a nightmare for the first few months. Must be hard for hardware manufacturers out there to have so many products on the shelf which will actually break your OS if used.

I presume they'll have to temp contract some extra support staff.

Very strange that even in logitech's avanced menu they don't say they will add 4 services on start up set to enable.
