I have tested the above on a clean Windows 7 x64 / Clean 8.5.1 install and it works perfectly - all Cores are available at all times and none are ever parked - the result = even CPU loads at all times regardless of loads.

Apparantly it helps deal with cpu spikes and keeps them constant across the range, either high or low depending on idling or playing a game. Supposed to help with stuttering

I'm trying it out now, games don't perform any worse that's for sure

and quad core cpus ;)

As suggest by the statement "more than 2 'logical' cores" bit :p

EDIT: In fact it is only Quad-core and above CPUs. Dual core isn't affected.

On a further note, unless you have a specific problem, it is an utterly pointless tweak. So best left alone.

It's not pointless but it's only of real benefit should the games you play be so badly written that they don't tax the machine they're running on. World of Warcraft on Quad Cores is one example.

What this tweak does is adds 'Core Parking' parameters as an option in your Windows Power Profiles. You can go into Power Management and turn it on or off. It's not a permanent reg hack. It just allows you more control should you desire it.

For some applications it helps, for some it does not.

Note the bit in bold. It is a pointless tweak unless you have a problem. You contradicted me and then confirmed what I said with an example! :p

Gave it a try, i had some strange issues in bfbc2!

Going to revert, can't say i don't try what i post :D

So not only is it of limited use, it can also be detrimental! [assuming you didn't consider turning off a power-saving feature detrimental in the first place! :p]

It is an interesting tweak, but as I have said unless you have a very specific reason to use it, I just wouldn't bother.
