Hi guys,

Some time ago I have installed windows 7 updated to become eligible for win 10 upgrade. But after update the windows has crashed and never started again.

I haven't got a recovery point to come back to, have tried everything through repaid tool (even from windows CD), memory tests, safe mode, scanned for viruses with avg and couple other antiviruses, but nothing helps.

Getting this blue screen https://www.dropbox.com/s/nvag82wa55bh6w2/Screenshot 2015-11-22 11.09.43.png?dl=0

Ideally I need to access Control Panel somehow (not sure if I can do that via Ubuntu) and delete all the updates.

Also why did the crash happen, why files got corrupted during the update? How to prevent it from happening again if I manage to fix it.

Thanks,
Igor

Hello,

Any ideas on how to fix it or how to prevent it next time will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Igor

Firstly, we need a bit more of the blue screen than that, unless that's all it shows?

It probably corrupted the files when it crashed, but without more information, I cannot tell you.

Also your post is not entirely clear, are you saying your now running Windows 10? Where did you run virus scans from if your computer does not boot, bootable CD (updated right)?

It is quite possible you will have to do a reinstall and this time when you upgrade, (if it's not already activated, otherwise just straight install Windows 10) do an in-place upgrade using the USB/DVD made from this tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

That's all it shows I am afraid.

No, I am still on that crashed Win 7. Yes I ran virus scans from a bootable avg USB after updating the database.

Thanks, that will make the activation easier!
