Hey guys, bought a Dell Studio 15 for my gf last month that came with the free Win 7 upgrade voucher, which has now been ordered (At £15 P&P, what the?) is this disk a basic rebuild DVD with Win 7 pre-installed, or is it a Vista upgrade to Windows 7 DVD do you know?

Thanks :)

Hi, I have heard that it is an full Win 7 disc, with an POA number label.

From experience they're "full" installations - but they appear to be customised, as at no point it asks for product keys etc.

Mine asked for a key. I was also able to opt against an upgrade. vista, program files and user profiles were moved into a windows.old folder and i essentially have a clean 7 install. Can't see any dell customisations at all.

I purchased an Acer laptop earlier this year which came with a £12.50 upgrade to Windows 7. Me being impatient, I wiped the laptop and performed a clean install of Windows 7 RTM from MSDN and made use of the 120 days before activating. I received the upgrade in the post and the install accepted the key fine :). So I don't think you have to perform an upgrade install but it may be different with Dell.

Did one for a mate the other day(not dell tho) and had the option to upgrade to retain settings etc but i formatted instead and did clean install and all went fine:)
