Windows 7 desktop not automatically refreshing.

As of late I've found that my desktop background icons don't automatically refresh, often I delete or add items to the desktop and I have to press f5 to get them to display.

Any ideas on what might cause this?

Thanks, but it appears that the folder {BDEADE7F-C265-11D0-BCED-00A0C90AB50F} does not exist.
