Windows 7 Disc Contents?

I vaguely remember someone saying that all Windows 7 Discs contain all versions, and it is your License Key that decides what gets installed. (In terms of Home/Professional/Ultimate - NOT 32/64 bit which obviously comes on different discs!)

Is this true? I have the Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) discs, and am about to install Professional on one of my machines (Fully licensed via the student deal)

So... Can I install Windows 7 Professional using Home Premium (Upgrade) discs?

I don't believe your student deal key will work with retail media.

Mine does, as do my MSDN keys work with retail discs and vice-versa.

I'm pretty sure it will.

I was right about the media side of it - it simply requires an edit to the ei.cfg file on the disk - I'll rip an image and give it a try (trying to go for a USB boot - hence the faf!

Will report back on my progress!

Well...that was worth the effort :rolleyes:

2 hours spent trying to cut 15 minutes off the installation time - oh well - just hope it works now!
