Hey, I recently purchased a laptop here requested that there's no OS on it. When it got here I turned it on to find it has W8 Ultimate 64 bit a CD key. So I'm trying to install W7 from an iso and the farthest I'm getting is an error. I'm not sure if I should contact customer support, cry or what. I've tried 3 different versions of W7 and still no luck.

When i first attempted it, I was getting stuck on the boot logo.
Second time I was getting 'Something went wrong with the installation, please restart the installation'
Third time (When using W8 to full recovery and boot from disc) I'm getting some files are missing please check user disc.

I've now gone back to trying to use the first disc again, back to getting stuck on boot logo.

To clarify, you've tried this:

-boot to win7 CD (or usb - it's faster!)
-delete and format all partitions
-create the partitions you want
-install win7?

Having a bit of trouble with Delete and format all partitions, I'm not clear on how to do that with W8. I've tried all the others though :/

You should be able to delete the partitions when you run the W7 installation, it'll show what partitions exist and you can delete the existing, create a new one and install w7.

As Scotteh said you should be able to Wipe, re-format, fresh install your windows 7 , Maybe there is an error within the ISO itself , Where did you get the ISO from ?

I noticed that when I installed Windows 8, however the option wasn't there when I tried installing Windows 7. I downloaded 3 different ISO's. One from torrent, 2 from labelled ISO's. One from here:

Derp

and another from here Derp

I also tried another from a previous Windows 7 burn disk I had, however this always hangs on the Windows 7 Logo when installing.

Hmm...did you burn them to a DVD using something like PowerISO or similar software at minimum speed ?...It could be that there is an issue with the software you're using , Or maybe when you're downloading them some of the files are not downloading as they should....how long does it take you to download one of these ISOs ?

It I suppose could also be an issue with the hardware too

You did get onto OcUK tech support right , and told them that your new laptop had an OS on it even though you had asked for no OS to be installed ?

Oh and you would need to remove the competitors link from your post above this one too :)

Hey Foster_grant.

Yeah, been on the dog and bone to tech support today and the problems all sorted now! Well chuffed. Just got to install all the drivers when i get home from work tonight and I'll be ready to use it.

Had to go into BIOS, change the OS to Other and then format hard drive, into command prompt and clean the disk. Just got W7 installed now, some touch and go moment where I didn't know what the system was doing but it seems all ok.

Apologies for competitors links, had such a brain fart then but I've removed them. Doubt they would be considered a competitor though, their support is based in India and their prices are unbelievable. I've purchased once from them, OcUK all the other times!
