Windows 7 Download...

Right, so I'm getting a new laptop built and to save a bit of money I just want to use Windows 7 instead of 8.1 as I already have a key for it but have lost the disc. Is there any where I can download it and put it on a usb stick? I remember a while back someone gave me a link to the download but lost it.

if i remember correctly it takes around 4gb

I always use 8gb usb sticks and never had space issues

I think if you use the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to make the install stick it suggests 8GB minimum.

Seen a 16 gig one for a fiver, is it as easy as inserting the usb stick when you first start up the laptop?

my windows 7 x64 takes up 3.10gb on the usb stick.

You'll have to choose the USB stick as the boot device for that one time. Most laptops will offer a one-off boot option, usually by pressing the F12 key or by holding escape while powering up the laptop.

I have a 8GB usb 2.0 stick and this is fine for installing any version of windows (8.1, 7 32 and 64 bit)
