Thanks everyone for posting your results ;-)

It has indeed been helpful for me at least (and I hope everyone else).

I can see that my Q6600@ 3.6 seems to be underperforming, scoring lower than other peoples @3.2 even with the same memory score.

I wonder if it is my multiplier etc that is causing the bottleneck?.

As I've had it clocked like this for over a year now I don't think I will be tinkering with it much; as It seems to run fast enough for me.. Even better now it's on Windows 7 ;-)

Oh go on then maybe some small tweaks !

Edit <LOL> As I was having touble during the install (Dodgy DVD burn) I has reset everything back to standard clocks.

I've now reset back to OC setting and I get

7.4 for Processor (3.6 OC) vs 7.1 (2.4 default)

Memory remains the same. (I will update my original post)

Mate of mine got 6.4 for Hard Drive speed.

That's with a OCZ SSD 120gb V1.

You have to go into Device Manager and Untick Write Caching otherwise he scored 1.9 lol

Processor: 7.4 (Q6600 @ 3600 9x400)
Memory : 7.4 (4-4-4-12 Perflevel8 DDR800)

That's very close to my system ; I have Q6600@ 3600 , I wonder why my memory is only scoring 5.9..

4gb - OCZ DDR2 PC6400 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x2GB, Heat Pipe,
(CL4-4-4-15)

I think I changed the multiplier so that it was running at stock 800 otherwise it was something >1100 which did not work.

MadMatty can you confirm what speed your memory is running @?

or is it the end timing difference 4-4-4-15 vs 4-4-4-12

Thanks

My system is deffinatly running as shown. 400 fsb 1:1 (DDR800) 4-4-4-12. Ram is running in spec , im not overclocking them. Perhaps ammount of memory contributes to the score not just access speed. (8gb Corsair Dominator 6400 C4 xms2 4x2048)

I think you might be right; and I think maybe the %space free/ size on HD is a factor too (probably to a lesser extent)

I wonder if there an any definate rules set out by MS?

The windows rating system isnt anything to go by, my brother has a Core i7 965 (watercooled) @ 5GHZ, 6GB DDR3 Dominator 2000MHz and 3 X GTX 280 in tri sli, he only gets 4.9 on all scores in the W7 beta and 5.4 in vista, so in other words dont go by the rating use 3dmark vantage for a trustworthy source.

*FIXED*

These new i7's dont seem to be what they were cracked up to be . I think I will skip a generation and go with the i8's LOL.
