I have just installed Win 7 on my second drive I have Xp on my first drive. At the first reboot after installing Win 7 and selecting it to boot I get an error screen saying

Windows failed to start
File windows/system32/winload.exe
0x000000f

I used the 64bit disc and my XP boot still works ok. I have tried the startup repair option but it says that it could not fix it. Looking at the information in there it mentions something about OSBootLoader. Any ideas?

Eric.

I've done some digging and found the following. My 1st drive has 2 partitions C & D and my second drive is a single partition drive letter F: (DVD drive is E). When I installed Windows 7 I selected the F: drive to install which is where all the files have been installed but I have just run BCDEdit from the command prompt in the Win 7 repair panel and the following shows up

Windows legacy OS loader --> C:\ntldr

but

Windows Boot Loader --> D:\windows\system32\winload.exe

so somehow it's looking at the wrong partition. How can I change this entry to point at the F: drive instead?
