Im not sure whether this has been covered already or not but i read that microsoft will release windows 7 for students at lower price fo £30.00 in october. Would this offer be covered by overclockers? or am i being naive to assume that this offer will even make it to Europe?

thanks

Cancel the pre-order then place an order for the student version.
The student campaign goes live on the 1st October and it will be a limited run available to College and University students.
Students can either order W7 Home Premium or Pro for the same price, however these are upgrade disks so must either have a working, legal and activated copy of XP or Vista.
XP users have to do a clean install instead of an upgrade (not a problem in any case)
Full details are available on the msn site. Am i allowed to link?

Who counts as a student? I've finished but I don't officially graduate until I get my results...

Edit: Excellent, anyone with a .ac.uk email address

You usually buy it from a dedicated site and you get a download, or you can pay extra for a copy on dvd to be shipped to you. I think the site is run by microsoft, but it's not their normal marketplace iirc. I think I got the student copy from the 'ultimate steal' part of the MS store (google it, not sure if I can link that).

I think if you're a student doing a computing or ICT course you can get access to microsoft academic alliance - then you can get access to lots of free microsoft software.

I'm using Windows 7 professional x64 which I got from the site and managed to get the 32 bit version too before my account expired.

Good offer £30 time to buy a 1TB HDD or maybe a SSD :D

On my MSDN it says win7 available to download which version is the 64Bit ? it just says:
Windows 7 Professional (x64) - DVD (English)
Windows 7 Professional (x86) - DVD (English)

??

Edit: it says "Windows 7 Professional - English (32bit and 64bit) is now available in ELMS" What ELMS mean ?

Ok im planning on ordering w7 pro for the £30 but i cant find my original copy of xp >.< im using xp now but im sure its a dodgy copy my dad got from work lol so this mean im screwed if i get the student offer? Any help would be awesome :)

I have an OEM version of XP, I then upgraded my computer and installed W7 RC... Am I going to be able to upgrade? Will I have to 'downgrade' to XP to be able to do so???!

Greedy git that I am, is there a Win 7 Ultimate version available to students?
There isn't an offer like this for Ultimate, no. It's not surprising though as students aren't really going to require the extra features in Ultimate that Professional doesn't have.
