I have recently started having issues on windows 7 32 bit.

it freezes up when left idle at night. i had a program running in the background however when i wasnt using it. still did the same.

i tried a virus scan and it froze doing that.

my main thought is its a virus.

i cant see it being a RAM issue as i have been on my pc between freezes and it ran fine. i had modern warfare 3 running as well as teamspeak and skype. no issues of freezing then.

oh yes. i also tried re-installing graphics drivers too to see if it was that. did an over the top install in windows and it froze up. tried in safe mode and it worked.

leads me to believe something that is running is causing issues. Any ideas?

I'd run a memtest86+ if I were you. If you are leaving it overnight and it freezes it may be an overheating issue.

Leave that going overnight and see if it has frozen when you get back.

will try that. not sure if it would be a heating issue. like i said ive played on games in the mean time for long periods. i figured that would be a beneficial test on the system as normally if its overheating it would be at a heavier load

graphics card overheating or bad ram could do this aswell...

as stated. gfx works fine as its only happening when its idle. gameplay it works fine.

it appears to only do it on idle and on virus checking. im more inclined to believe its bad sectors atm which if i remember right an incorrect shut down can cause cant it?

64-bit is soooo much better anyway!

Youre telling me! :-)

did a fresh install of 7 64 bit. its actually fixed a couple of other issues i was having at the same time too which im impressed with. i dont know why i stuck with 32 bit now.

cheers 3D :-)
