Windows 7 fuzzy display

Probably going to do a reinstall anyway but having had this issue before with a different PC running Windows 7 I thought I would ask a question or two.

I have just built another PC and used an old monitor I had whilst setting it up, having now completed everything it is now running on a 1920x1080p LCD TV screen and has really fuzzy text, nothing I do will make the text any better.
Funny thing is though that the old monitor I set it up on the text was perfect.

When I built my first PC I set it up on my TV initially and then had a problem with fuzzy text when moving it to the monitor (the same monitor as above) so bought a new monitor and all was/is fine.

There must be a setting somewhere as it appears that during set up Windows sets the display properties according to whats currently attached and then offers no way to reset, sure there's a few options for tweaking but they never seem to make things better.

Help...please!

Tried custom dpi, scaling, under/overscan, cleartype, font change, colour, 32 bit to 16b bit, resolutions.....daughter just wants to play minecraft so have come away for now.

Fresh install done but not solved the fuzzy text issue.
Worth mentioning that I am using a bush tv/dvd combi as a monitor so may have to do with post processing or something....possibly? I dunno.
Had a fiddle with everything I can fiddle with and got it as good as I can be bothered with, it's still not right but hey ho...there you go.
