In the middle of downloading the beta and got a few questions.
Is windows 7 a good gaming platform compared to vista ? as i know vista is a memory hog, dont get me wrong i love vista but why it uses so much memory is beyond me.
I know W7 is DX11 and we wont have DX11 cards for another year'ish but does it make games look any better ?

Superfetch is part of Vista and 7, it caches things into ram, so it's not a 'memory hog' it's simply using the ram that you have instead of wasting it doing nothing.

On my 8gb machine, it has 1mb free

This is a good thing

Read up on it

W7 and Vista will have within 1-5% give or take the same gaming performance

the wireless configuration service in windows 7 doesnt disconnect you form your network once a minute (like xp and vista did, xp and vista32 had fixes but it's impossible to fix with vista64) so i can now properly play fps's without any dodgy drivers or batch files for the first time in years:D

so yeah, windows 7 is amazing for gaming (for me:))

Is this something you have to enable or configure? I have 2GB RAM and 80% of the time I have 50% free.

Vista Home Premium 32

I can only speak for CS:S but even with the prerelease 1.0 drivers that came with Windows Update it runs fine, pretty much the same as Vista with 8.12's.
