I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on a problem I am experiencing.
I am running my computer overclocked (check my specifications) and it has been stable for months with no problems. However recently my Windows 7 Professional began to hang at the login page, sometimes freezing and sometimes just displaying a black screen with only a mouse. It would start occasionally but only about 1 in 20 attempts. I reduced all voltages and clock speeds to fail safe settings in the BIOS and this had no affect.
I have just yesterday reinstalled Windows with Windows 7 Ultimate instead of Professional and did a clean install. Windows now boots more occasionally but I am still experiencing the same issues - sometimes with extremely long loading times for the password to be accepted (10 minutes or so) and other times the same problem of it just not loading the desktop.
I am inclined to think this is probably a hardware issue as it does it with both operating systems, however if someone could provide any insight it would be much appreciated.
I am running only a Corsair CX 430w power supply - this is my best guess as my computer is drawing a lot of power, although I am unsure because if my power supply was the problem why would the irregularities occur with logging on?
Sorry this is long, any help at all is appreciated!
