windows 7 hd tv resolution issue

i have built a new comp and put windows 7 on it,

all is good appart from the connection to my tv

i have the same GFX and am connecting in the same way (DVI->HDMI)

in the nvidia control panel it says the native res for my TV is 1920x1080 and the current res is 1280x720

i have tried changing it but it just keeps going back to that one, i have also ticked the "force hd res" box but that dont help either,

i have tried a few drivers for the GFX, windows 7 and vista x64,
they both work fine apart from the TV res,

has anyone got any ideas what might be causing it? PLEASE

is you tv 1080p or 1080i

if it 1080i ten you gfx card is seeing it and gfx cards don';t like producing interlaced images and so drops down to 720p

I had the same thing happen with my laptop and parents hd screen

it is 1080p, i had it all working fine until i upgraded to windows 7

my tv is the LG6100
