Windows 7 help.... very simple... i must be missing a trick.

OK i use 3 computers with win7 pro. when i download a file, folder i want the option of desktop & downloads. i have this on both my laptops, but for some reason i cannot set it up on my main pc.. i know im missing a trick but grrrrrrrrr its making me angry!

i tried to add it under favourites but no joy!

Laptops set up as i would like

i tried that, i would have thought i could just drag folder shortcuts there?

Start > Username > Links

Right click empty space > New > Shortcut

Browse, select 'Desktop', OK, Next type Desktop, click Finish.

Browse to Desktop in that window, then right click Favourites , add this location to Favourites

Anything I add to that list goes into the 'Links' folder, maybe you deleted yours?

im at work now, but thinking i may have made the links folder hidden as i dont use it, but saying that it is hidden on the machine i have now and they work

Doesn't right clicking where it says favorites and then restore favorite links work?

ok i see what i did. i made 'links' folder hidden as i always do, but had somehow ticked make all subfolders hidden and read only, changed that and now im cooking on gas, sorry for being a gumbo, but glad its sorted.
