Windows 7 help

I couldn't get my '7' to talk to Vista64. Everything else worked great, but no talking from 7 to vista (i think the other way round was OK).

I know that doesn't help, but you're not alone!

Go to Control Panel > All Control panel items > System. You can change the workgroup settings in there.

Can you ping each PC from the other, by name or IP address? If so it's probably a Windows Firewall issue.

Like theyve said, it should basically work the same :) but its definitely worth checking if the windows firewall is responsible. Just disable it and see if it works after. Long as the PCs can ping each other everything should be ok.

Same as vista and pretty similar to xp, just right click "computer" aka "my computer" comp name/change, then set the workgroup.

In the network sharing centre, set all the options such as network discovery as "allow," then set the workgroup as the same, "MSHOME" for example. It may be worth turning off IPv6 if all else fails as well, as I often find it interferes with my internet, whether that's a limitation of my router I don't know, but it may help you.

Networking between OSes has certainly been made easier since 2000, I have had to try getting 98 and vista talking before, now that was fun! :D
