Windows 7 hibernate troubles

I have just reinstalled my OS, I got a new m.2 drive and it was a little awkward to get windows 7 installed but I got there. it is windows 7 ultimate x64

One small thing I have noticed quickly though is that hibernate does not work. "allow hybrid sleep" is enabled but there is no hibernate in the start menu or if I alt+f4 on desktop.

Have tried the commands "powercfg.exe /hibernate on" "powercfg -h on"
Have checked that " HibernateEnabled" is set to 1 in regedit
I also tried changing what the power buttons do and set it so that pushing the power button hibernates instead of shutting down, but in that case the computer does just shut down.

Well it isnt in any of the optional places. start menu has sleep but no "hibernate" option and like wise if I choose power options from alt+f4 again hibernate is simply missing from the options

changing what the power buttons do has been the only way ive even been able to try and use the hibernate option but it just fully shuts the computer down, next time i hit the button it will be a fresh boot, not resuming where i left off

You may need to reinstall the ACPI device (see guide for when a laptop battery doesn't charge properly). Alternatively the relevant S states might not be enabled in the BIOS and/or other similar options that are required.

If you have an older motherboard and Windows 7 booting from NVME which requires an updated BIOS with some trick work around to insert the NVME boot device into the chain you might find it knocks out certain functionality in order to do so.
