While on desktop with no actual programmes running i seem to be using 1.2Gb of RAM according to task manager

theres a few start up apps runnings like real temp, MSI afterburner, set point and a couple others, altogether i have 67 processes running, does this 1.2GB usage sound a lot for win 7 home x64 ? or is it quite normal ?

it preloads commonly programs into the RAM for quicker access. Don't worry about the useage, it will free it up if it needs it

why is it so many are worrying about how much ram is being used in vista and now win 7
i just use the pc and have never worried about it and havent run in to a problem were i dont have enough ram.
the rams there to be used

I asked the question because lately ive noticed a lot of lag just after a cod waw map has loaded in multiplayer, ive not had this before so im just trying to narrow down a posible cause , it could be my page file settings, or the new AV ive just installed or the few programmes ive installed to monitor G card temps,CPU temps and automatic fan speed control

or it could be the new G card ive just installed

Thanks for all the replies, i feel confident now that win 7 is not using more RAM than it should :)
