Hello.

I use my hosts file to block adverts within certain applications (not Firefox) but recently it has stopped working and have no idea why... I've tried remaking it, checking the formatting but all looks OK. The only thing I can see that is different is this little padlock?

Does anyone have any ideas? Here is a small extract from it.

Thanks.

Doesn't the padlock mean that you don't have write permissions to it? Have you checked the permissions on it?

I can modify the file OK and the changes appear in the file. Under security, myself, SYSTEM and administrators has full control (including modify, read and write).

Should use peerblock as it will get updated more and then use adblock+ no script to catch the odd ones.

I only really use it to blocks adds on MSN and the blocked hosts have been working since the flash adverts they use started annoying me. I've only changed it to create a host name for something that doesn't have DNS on my LAN.
