Windows 7 in built back-up

Correct me if i am wrong but if i buy another 1TB HDD and set windows 7 to create a image to that hard drive will it just be an exact copy of my OS drive, so if my OS drive craps out i can just plug the back-up drive in it's place and away it goes.

Is that correct or have i totally lost the plot lol

I belive it backs up your data not the OS itself

No you can't just plugin the backup drive and it run. It doesn't work like that. You have to go through a restore process.

u could clone the hard drive using Acronis Migrate i think that would take the os aswell

As far as im aware if you do "create a system image" and put that on a different hard drive, should your os drive die just boot of a windows 7 disc, go to advanced repair options or w/e its called and then just restore from that image.
