I only have VPC on this box. Ironically my other box has VMWare but only 2Gb of RAM.

I am trying to install Windows 7 in VPC 2007 and it just hangs. If I use the physical DVD it gets as far as expanding files but doesn't do anything. If I mount the ISO the gets as far as installing features and then hangs.

Anyone managed virtualizing it yet?

works fine in virtualbox

it's pretty damn polished for a beta, i've replaced my vista install with it tbh

I wouldnt update to the latest release of virtual box. Theres a huge memory leek when installing Windows7 durring the expanding files stage of the win7 installer. Installed fine on the previous version but then I nuked it installing vm additions in vista compatability mode ;)

It seems to be installing fine in VMWare now. Unusually quick too. I hit load on the VMWare server page and switched to pop out window console. It took a few seconds to load the console window and W7 was already sat at the language screen.

I've installed W7 onto a XenServer but I had to carry out a command line mod on the VM to switch something off before doing the install else it would hang.

EDIT: This is what I had to do

xe vm-param-set uuid=<vmuuid> platform:viridian=false

<vmuuid> can be obtained using the command: xe vm-list

Works fine here in MS Virtual PC - I set it as being Vista and it installed nice and quickly. You won't get Aero as none of the virtualised graphics cards support it.
