Okay, its pretty simple, but slightly complex for me at the same time.

Doing my first build tomorrow, and i have been given an ISO and a Serial from my University as they are joint with Microsoft for software etc etc so everything here is Legit. Windows 7 Professional Btw.

I have the ISO and i have burnt it onto a disc so i can install it when the build is complete.

My question is, do i have to change settings when burning the image onto the disc, or do i just leave it as it is? Will it be able to install from the disc without the pc having an OS installed? If not, what settings would i have to apply....for example: make image "bootable" in imgBurn?

Any advice and help would be thanked and greatly appreciated :)

Imgburn is excellent. I've burned many bootable ISOs and I've always left it at default settings. Just pick the ISO and hit burn.

Alright cheers bud.

Initially i used powerISO so everything should still be the same, will have to wait and see tomorrow :D might take some piccies and fill up a new thread in GH.

Thanks :)

i have also used imgburn a lot,
just leave it alone, it always detects the the iso is bootable.
thats really it.

also dont forget to change the boot order in the bios.
you want cd/dvd drive first ;)

also after its finished updating and you have it set up perfect.
make an system image on a backup hard drive.
so in future, instead of reinstalling the os, just use the system image instead

So when the pc is up and running, without an install operating system, i just simply go into the bios, change the boot order and then install W7? I assume after this i then go back into the bios and change boot order to HDD once everything is complete :)?

When its first booting up you will see a screen that says "press any key to boot from disk" make sure you hit that and the windows install will start.

Regarding the disk first you can change it back it might shave a few seconds off the boot time but usually just leave it does not cause any issues.
