Last night I tried to install Windows 7 (and XP) Both the cds I have didnt work, Windows 7 got to the screen where it starts to install and the cd stopped spinning and it froze. Windows XP copied all the files, restarted and started installing but stopped at 39 minutes remainding. I tried again a couple of times and both got to different stages of the install then stopped. I tried my mates cd drive but its the same as mine (LG) and did the same thing.

I have an image of Windows 7 64bit (3gb), is it possible to stick this on a 4gb memory stick and install off the stick? I am getting a mate to do me a copy of Windows 7 64bit to try another cd but i have my doubts.

Interesting, im using a velociraptor 150gb that has been faultless and passes all tests i have thrown at it. However i changed motherboard, ram and processor recently. I was thinking it could have been ram so had a look for a memtest program but couldnt find one from the bios. Ill look for making a boot cd for memtest86 (think thats what it used to be called) before trying the microsoft iso tool
