Windows 7 install problem

Hello all
Been trying to install Windows 7 on the lovely new PC I've just built, but installation keeps failing :(

I choose where I want to install, and it starts doing its thing, then when it gets to the 'Expanding files' stage it'll work on it for a while then I get:
"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart installation. Error code: 0x80070570."
I've tried several times now and it always fails during 'Expanding files', though not always at the same point - once at 26%, once at 48%, once at 12% etc.
I'm using an official Windows 7 64bit disk - what could be the problem? The optical drive is an Optiarc 7241s - they're normally pretty reliable I gather?
My system is i7 920 (at stock), Gigabyte UD5 mobo, 12gb Corsair Ram, ATI 5850 gpu, Caviar Black 640gb hard drives, and a Corsair 750 watt psu.
Any ideas please?!?! As this is starting to get me down!
Thanks

I had this problem on an old PC of mine. Turned out to be a faulty stick of RAM.

I'd suggest running Memtest.

Another vote for RAM issue. Get the ISO from here: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso and burn it to a disc. They also have an image for sticking it on a USB stick if you prefer. Boot from the CD/USB and run some of the tests. Been a while since I used it but I think there is standard test option, or similar.

If your RAM is to blame this should find it.

I removed all but 1 2gb stick of RAM - and installation worked! So thanks folks. I've put all the ram sticks back in now and everything seems ok.
I haven't run memtest yet - I tried with a bootable memtest cd but it didn't work for some reason: Just said 'Loading...............................................' and never did anything.
I'll try it again at some point - I really hope my memory is ok.
Is there a chance that the installation problem could've been more to do with having a full 12gb (which I understand can sometimes fluster a computer) rather than maybe faulty memory?
Thanks

12gb is quite a load and hardware can be funny on installs, personally id check any mobo quirks online and see if you have the latest firmware
