Hello.

I know from the title this may seem like another normal Google-able error, and trust me, i have tried my best.

I have recently tried to build my new PC. I got the motherboard, RAM and CPU in a bundle. I didn't have any issues putting the hardware together. Before the boot i checked my bios for correct memory settings and i changed Sata config to AHCI. Then i tried to boot from an official windows 7 home premium disk which has only be used once before (and successfully). I started the installation with only my DVD drive and SSD drive plugged into the motherboard.

The files were copied and then started extracting. After a handful of minutes during the extraction, i got an error like this:

virtualbox-windows-7-error-code-0x80070570.png

I tried once again with the same disk and had the same error at the same place. I also tried to restart the installation without restarting the pc and had the same result.

Here is what i'm using:

Mobo: M5A78L-M/usb3 ASUS
CPU: AMD FX8150
RAM: Ballistix Sport 2x4gb 1600Mhz
Drive: OCZ agility 3 (in sata 2 port)
OS to install: Windows 7 Home Premium

This is some of what i have tried so far from searching google:

BIOS related:
Reset CMOS
Set to Default settings
Reinstall Bios
Update to latest Drivers

Check component connections

RAM related
Check memory timings/speeds
check memory using memtest86
Use just 1 stick of RAM
Use the other stick of RAM

Hard Drive Related
Check is SSD was recognised by BIOS
switch SATA config to IDE
switch SSD to HDD
Switch main SATA ports
Update SSD firmware

OS related:
Download new OS ISO from Microsoft and other official distributors (tried 3 different ISO's)
Boot using DVD Drive (all burned using low speed setting)
Boot using USB Drive

Despite ALL of what i tried already, the error doesn't change, it always stops at 15% when booting from a CD and 4% from a USB With the same error message.

Thanks for any suggestions or opinions and sorry for the wall of text, i think a little to much info is better than not enough, i tried to make it as reader friendly as best i could.

What I would do in this scenario is remove the componants and put them onto a test bed (by this i mean a desk out of the case.

Remove ALL other hardware and only keep the bare (power supply, motherboard, memory, processor) use onboard graphics and use a normal HDD.

Reset the Bios again and then try again from USB.

If this still fails you have a hardware fault somewhere, possibly motherboard or even memory (even though you used 1 stick) memtest it!

Thanks for the answer.

I memtest both sticks, then each one and they were fine.

Ive stripped it down to its bare essentials to rule out any other problems and reset the bios in a few different ways. No change so far :(

Enough voltage in the ram? to run 4 Dimms on my Gigabyte board I have to add and extra 0.05 to get it to boot!

When you see the error "0x80070570 can't access files" on install click --> OK ---> you will be returned to the "Install Now" startup screen and - WITHOUT REBOOTING - just re-start the install.

Second time round it went smooth as clockwork and installed fine.

Microsoft say it could be DVD read issues, Have you tried a different DVD drive? (Yeah I see you have tried USB install)

Also try installing with only one stick of Ram installed (this was a trick from the BETA to get it to install).

Others have said wipe the hard drive/SSD using kill disk and then install with no problems!

Thanks for the reply guys. I tried with just one stick, and completely wiped ssd and hdd's a few times. tried different DVD reader too.

When i stripped it down to the bare minimum, all i had was a psu, cpu, 1 stick of ram, motherboard (sometimes without a Dvd drive, sometimes with)

The real problem for me is i couldn't localize the issue. All the tests i ran on everything on that computer or on another computer didn't come up with any errors.

I installed windows 8 trial version without any problems, and its running completely fine. Before doing another windows 7 clean install id like to have a better idea on whats going wrong.

All this stupid faffing around gave me enough time clean the wiring down to a minimum at least lol.

Try a USB install? Grab an ISO (from wherever) and do a hashtest, so that the SHA-1 checksum is the same as on the msdn download site. Or download from digitalriver (MS official partner, totally legit).

You could burn that to CD or copy the files to a USB stick, which you made bootable. With win7 there are no special steps to making a USB key, just file copy really. Might have to go into diskpart and activate the partition.

One advantage of this is that your win7 DVD might not have SP1 integrated, which means a lot of time spent on windows update. Getting a new ISO with SP1 is recommended.

Will at least rule out media problems, which is nice.

Although you say you have downloaded the ISO 3 times, you make no mention if you verified it using the SHA-1 checksum (as recommended by FoxEye above), this would be my first step.

Disconnect all external devices and any internal drives except your SSD and set this to AHCI (assuming the SSD is where you wish to install windows).

Clear all existing partitions and let windows create its own, if the error comes up again click ok and return to the 'install now' screen and try again without rebooting.

I verified two Iso's and both passed. Windows 8 is running smoothly at the moment. I have a feeling that if i tried to re-install windows 7 home premium or any other version, it would work now.
