I'm installing win 7 64 pro on my new ssd from a dvd but when it gets to expanding files it remains at 0% no matter how long I wait. Any ideas? I've installed windows from this dvd before so I don't think it's damaged.

Now and then when installing 7 I have experienced it hanging at 0% for a good 20 minutes. Perhaps worth waiting a bit longer?

From your sig I'm guessing you have a similar setup to myself, and the install takes a while for me with no useful feedback. It is pretty annoying. My advice would be go read the paper or something because it's like watching a kettle boil.

I found when i installed on my 12GB ram machine, at the stage where it would be unpacking, it looked hung, for a very very longtime, aparently it copies the whole disk to ram to then do the installation faster, or some such gubbins, sat for ages and ages, then ran smoothly, leave it a while longer.
