I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit on one disk, one full partition.
I know I can shrink the partition on windows. Can I then simply boot from the linux CD and install on the 'spare' space?

Second option, if I leave the Windows partition as is, but add a second hard disk. Can I then install Linux on the second disk or does it still need to be installed on the primary disk?

Disks are SATA if relevant - or even if it isn't!

yeh u can install on the spare space and yes you can install it on a second HDD.

Just be careful when you install, need to select manual partition setup, just backup inportant windows files before (better safe then sorry) then select your free space or 2nd hdd.
