Just seen this article on X-bits. It looks like they are on track to release Windows 7 at some point in 2007.
I was waiting to upgrade to Vista soon-ish but now I may skip it altogether...
But wouldn't you say that XP and 2000 were aimed at different markets? XP for home usage and 2000 more for business. They did pretty much the same with Windows 2000 and XP.
XP was out pretty soon after 2000 Pro.

Can't see another MS OS quite so soon.
Perhaps a big update pack with some new features?

Wrong. Vista was the technology release... probably the biggest single revamp to Windows ever. Windows 7 will be a user release - other than the hypervisor there won't be much new technology on show.Windows Vista - By in large, new overlaying system (the permissions system, the glossy bits, explorer), pretty much aimed at and more popular with consumers
Windows 7 - By in large, new underlying system

Not saying you are wrong, but don't most people say that the 3.1 to 95 jump is the biggest?
I know however, you mean in how the kernel and the "under the bonnet" stuff though...
Wasn't 3.1 to 95 as massive of a change?
